Arsenal ‘unlikely’ to seal Victor Osimhen transfer as Arteta’s transfer priority is revealed

Arsenal are reportedly ‘unlikely’ to seal the transfer of Victor Osimhen this summer as Mikel Arteta’s true transfer priority is revealed.

The Nigerian international has been intensely linked with a move to the Gunners this week, with reports recently emerging that Arsenal will soon make their first attempt to lure Osimhen from Napoli this summer.

A striker is believed to be near the top of Arsenal’s wishlist this summer, with Osimhen emerging as the next main target for the north London side, after missing out on Benjamin Sesko earlier this month.

Yet it appears that Arsenal and Arteta have other ideas in mind.

Arsenal to pivot from Osimhen to focus on Bukayo Saka cover

According to Football London, a deal to sign Osimhen is ‘unlikely’ at this stage as Arsenal look to focus on signing cover for Bukayo Saka, with a wide-attacker on the north London side’s radar.

The England international was one of Arteta’s most-used players this season along with the likes of William Saliba and Martin Odegaard, and fans have been crying out for a backup for Saka for some time.

And this summer could finally see Arsenal make such a move in the market, with the Gunners in a position where they need to find competition and cover for Saka.

Indeed, whilst such a player will be hard to find, signing someone who can fill this role might end up being more important than a striker, even with the limited options currently in the squad.

Arsenal could use the Euros to find Saka’s dream backup option

The Euros has potentially come around at the perfect time for Arsenal, with the biggest tournament in Europe this summer providing the Gunners with a front-row seat to any potential signings.

And the north London side could use the competition as a way to find the Saka backup of Arteta’s dreams, with Arsenal in the money to make such a signing possible.

Whilst it might still be hard to find such a player, Arsenal won’t lose out on anything if they don’t begin searching, with backup for Saka one of the most important thing the Gunners can find this summer.
