Report: Chelsea have for now been put off a move to sign 'incredible' Premier League player

Chelsea have now been put off making a move this summer for one of their reported transfer targets.

The Blues have been linked with several different centre-forwards in recent weeks, but it sounds like you can strike one name off the shortlist.

This comes at a time when Chelsea attacker Nicolas Jackson is rumoured with a possible exit. Journalist Alex Crook told talkSPORT that Jackson is not happy about Mauricio Pochettino’s exit from the dugout and is possibly looking for a move away.

Chelsea put off £65m target

The Athletic claims that Chelsea been put off making a move for Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke.

It is explained that the Blues have been put off the 26-year-old Premier League striker because of a £65m release clause in his contract.

GiveMeSport recently reported that Solanke would ‘welcome’ a move to join Chelsea where he developed in the academy.

This new development suggests it’s unlikely, though.

Dominic Solanke would have been a punt

Solanke isn’t what you’d call a top-class frontman yet, but he’s definitely been improving year on year.

The English star proved where his game is heading by scoring 21 goals in 42 matches for Bournemouth last season across all competitions, including 19 in the Premier League.

When you see some of the younger and less experienced strikers linked with Chelsea, it makes you think perhaps the Bournemouth frontman would be worth the risk.

Described as “incredible” by Scott Parker in 2021 (Dorset Live), Solanke is one the Blues should revisit if he has another stellar season in Bournemouth colours.
