Manchester United star holds talks with Bayern Munich, and a quick decision has already been made

Manchester United are trying to move away from short-term fixes after another one began to show up last season.

While there was a concern that Casemiro would be a quick-fix for Manchester United’s midfield in 2022/23, the bigger fear was that he would fade almost straight away, like we saw with Bastian Schweinsteiger.

What we saw from Casemiro in his first season at Old Trafford was excellent, and so at the start of last season, nobody was expecting the club might need to replace him as soon as 2024.

Yet that’s exactly where we are. Casemiro’s form nosedived, he started experiencing fitness issues, and when he missed the FA Cup Final, it did not negatively impact the team, who won without him.

The expectation is Casemiro will be sold this summer, with a potential move to Saudi Arabia strongly tipped, with Fabrizio Romano reporting there is a ‘good chance’ he will leave.

Bayern Munich hold Casemiro talks

A curveball has been thrown into the mix regarding Casemiro’s future, briefly at least. Interest from Bayern Munich.

Brazilian outlet Trivela claims Casemiro has held talks with German giants Bayern Munich over a move.

It was claimed Casemiro was ‘enticed’ by Bayern’s interest, but a decision has already been made by the Bundesliga club not to continue negotiations.

Bayern are focused on signing Fulham’s Joao Palhinha instead, and their interest in Casemiro will go no further beyond their initial enquiry.

Manchester United want a high fee for Casemiro, while his expensive wages mean he would have to take a cut to sign elsewhere – unless he landed a more lucrative move to the Saudi Pro League.

Manchester United waiting on Saudi approach

Casemiro’s openness to moving to the Saudi Pro League is yet to become clear.

His interest in a potential move to Bayern shows that staying in European football does still appeal – but it’s hard to see where his options are.

For now, Manchester United are waiting on a bid. A quick resolution would help all parties, freeing up funds for the Red Devils to spend.

Casemiro is not at the Copa America after he was surprisingly left out of the Brazil squad. This gives him a chance to focus on his future over the coming weeks.

In the event there are no offers, then he will return to United for pre-season, where his expensive contract still has two years left to run.
