'He is a top, top player': Micah Richards stunned by Euro 2024 attacker Liverpool have reportedly approached

Liverpool have a big summer ahead of them on the transfer front as the Arne Slot era gets under way at Anfield.

The Reds have appointed Slot to replace Jurgen Klopp in the Anfield dugout after the German coach stepped down at the end of the season.

Slot, Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards will look to maintain continuity in quality from the Klopp era and build on the foundations he has put in place.

As one of the Premier League’s top clubs, Liverpool have been linked with numerous world-class players over the past few weeks.

One reported Reds target has just got his Euro 2024 campaign under way after helping his country reach the tournament for the first time.

Liverpool target Khvicha Kvaratskhelia hailed by Micah Richards

The player in question is Napoli and Georgia star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, a player who Liverpool recently approached, according to TBR Football sources.

Kvaratskhelia, who won the Serie A title with Napoli just over a year ago, helped his nation reach Euro 2024 after beating Greece on penalties in their playoff back in March.

And on Tuesday night, Georgia took part in their first ever major tournament game as they faced Turkey in their Group F encounter in Dortmund.

Prior to the game, Micah Richards sung Kvaratskhelia’s praises, telling BBC One (18/6/2024, 4:34pm): “What he has done at Napoli over the last couple of seasons, he is a top top player.”

The 23-year-old sadly didn’t have the best game against Turkey, who ran out 3-1 winners over the tournament debutants.

Nevertheless, Kvaratskhelia has more than proven himself at the top level and will be eager to get off the mark in Georgia’s games against Czechia and Portugal.

What is the transfer situation involving Liverpool and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia?

According to TBR Football sources, Liverpool have asked the Napoli about signing Kvaratskhelia this summer amid player-side uncertainty over his future.

Mamuka Jugeli, the player’s agent, recently said his client would ideally like to leave Naples ahead of the new season.

However, Napoli are believed to have told Liverpool that Kvaratskhelia is going nowhere this summer.

Newcastle, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City are also said to have expressed an interest in the player.

They are believed to have received the same response from Napoli.
