Report: Arsenal staff have been so impressed with £20m player's athleticism and pace since he signed

Arsenal staff have been particularly impressed by the athleticism of one player since his arrival at the Emirates, with his turn of pace also catching the eye.

It cannot be said enough how impressive the work of Edu and Mikel Arteta in the transfer market has been over the last few years, with Arsenal elevating themselves into the Premier League title picture – and it appears that the squad still has potential to improve further.

Some of their signings however, have not exactly paid off. Fabio Vieira has, so far, been an underwhelming addition, and there is probably one defender who feels that Arsenal fans have not yet seen the best of him either.

Jakub Kiwior signed for £20 million from Spezia in January 2023 as the Gunners put themselves in the title mix for the first time in a while.

Kiwior struggled in his first few months for minutes, and he spent the majority of last season in the left-back position after Arsenal lost Jurrien Timber to serious injury and Oleksandr Zinchenko struggled for form.

AC Milan are interested in signing Kiwior this summer, but it would appear that he may be a loss behind the scenes and on the training ground if he does leave the Emirates in the coming weeks.

According to a report from The Athletic, Kiwior has been extremely impressive with how athletic he is, while his technique has also caught the eye. It is noted that his turn of pace also impressed staff during his initial tests.

Potential surprise package for the Gunners

Perhaps Kiwior has the potential to be something of a surprise package for Arsenal should he remain at the club next season, as it may only take one injury to see him handed a prominent role.

It does feel as though Arsenal fans are largely reserving judgement given that he has barely played at centre-back since arriving. But clearly, the Gunners have the best centre-back partnership in the division right now, so it is going to be difficult for Kiwior.

Many will believe that losing William Saliba or Gabriel Magalhaes to injury could be a massive blow to Arsenal, but perhaps Kiwior has it in the locker to shock a few people if given the chance.
