‘Crazy’: Kobbie Mainoo admits he’s amazed by what one Man City player can do

Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has shared his astonishment at what one Manchester City player is capable of.

After appearing in 32 matches for the Red Devils last season, the 19-year-old found himself being included in the England squad for the 2024 European Championship in Germany alongside three figures from the City squad.

England’s first game of the tournament saw them beat Serbia 1-0 on Sunday thanks to a goal from Jude Bellingham, although Mainoo was an unused substitute.

Ahead of the Three Lions’ next group match against Denmark, the United midfielder has shared his thoughts on one particular player also in the England camp at the moment, who knows all about playing for a top club in Manchester.

Kobbie Mainoo amazed by what Phil Foden can do

Speaking in a recent England press conference (via BBC Sport) ahead of Thursday’s match against Denmark, Mainoo had this to say on the subject of his international teammate Phil Foden.

He said: “On the ball, his first touch is crazy, he’s so technical.”

Looking back over his most recent domestic season, the 24-year-old scored 27 goals and delivered 12 assists in 53 appearances across all competitions.

This shows just how much of a key figure Foden was in terms of helping Pep Guardiola’s side win their sixth Premier League trophy in seven years as well as the UEFA SuperCup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Foden is famous for his technical ability

Mainoo isn’t the first England player to share their amazement by Foden’s ability, as Anthony Gordon said earlier this month that the City star is “out of this world” in terms of his technical skills on the ball.

Now that the United youngster has shared how impressed he’s been with the City midfielder and the way he controls the ball, this should further increase Foden’s status as one of the best technical players in Europe right now.
