Chelsea are looking into signing ‘magic’ £65m player who Liverpool sold in 2019

Liverpool could be set for a mini transfer windfall thanks to an approach from Chelsea.

The Reds could do with all the help they can get in the window as they look to stretch their budget as far as possible.

So far, Liverpool have not made any concrete moves themselves as they weigh up who should be the first signing of the Arne Slot era.

But it’s clear that the Reds will be making an addition or two before the summer is out. With big-money moves for the likes of Leny Yoro potentially on the agenda, every little will help.

Liverpool should have already banked a small sell-on fee after Luis Alberto left Lazio for Al Duhail earlier in June. And as Chelsea firm up their own transfer plans, they could be set for another.

Chelsea looking into Dominic Solanke signing

After smashing several transfer records since arriving at Chelsea in 2022, Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital look set for another busy summer.

All the money the Blues have spent in the past two years has not got them any closer to success and they’re now onto yet another manager, with Enzo Maresca now in charge.

Despite the billions spent on the squad, Chelsea still look to be in need of a proper striker. Liverpool themselves could also be in the market for a forward.

One option for this could be former Reds striker Dominic Solanke. Solanke has finally blossomed five-and-a-half years after leaving Liverpool, smashing in 19 Premier League goals for Bournemouth last season.

His goal against Luton Town in March, for example, was deemed to be ‘magic’ by the Sky Sports commentators that day.

And according to The Telegraph, the 26-year-old’s renaissance has caught the attention of the club who Liverpool initially signed Solanke from.

The Reds brought the then 19-year-old Solanke in from Chelsea on a free transfer in 2017. And, remarkably, seven years on from leaving Stamford Bridge, the Blues are reportedly keen to bring him back.

It doesn’t appear as though Solanke is Chelsea’s first choice. They reportedly want Samu Omorodion as well as Jhon Duran. But, nevertheless, it’s claimed that the West Londoners ‘looked at’ trying to re-sign the Bournemouth man

How much could Liverpool get from Dominic Solanke sale?

While some may think that Solanke could be an option for Liverpool, it doesn’t look as though FSG will share that view.

The England international is perhaps a little older than the profile which the Reds are targeting.

As well as his age, Solanke’s price-tag would likely be an off-putting factor for Liverpool. According to The Athletic, he has a release clause of £65m in his Bournemouth contract.

In the same article it is reiterated that Liverpool have a 20 per cent sell-on clause should Solanke be moved on.

This would give the Reds around £9m should the release clause be triggered. A tidy little sum should it happen.

The Athletic also claim that Liverpool did have a buy-back clause for Solanke, but this has reportedly since expired. We say got get him, Chelsea!
