Report: 'Excellent' Manchester United player now wanted in Brazil, his agent has confirmed interest

After a disappointing season for many players under contract for Manchester United, several can be expected to depart this summer.

It was a pretty horrific season for Manchester United, which luckily for Erik ten Hag ended in silverware, otherwise the outcome of Ineos‘ end-of-season review may have been different.

In the season several players struggled and some were sent out on loan in January where their struggles only continued.

But this summer that means those players who’ve failed to stake a claim to be a part of Ten Hag’s squad next season could be heading for the exit door once again this summer.

Now, for Facundo Pellistri, it appears that interest is growing over a move, while his agent has reportedly also hinted at a possible move.

Facundo Pellistri is a target for two Brazilian sides

This summer will likely see multiple outgoings for United, with one which already looks to be moving to be Pellistri, with the United winger out of the picture at the club.

Firstly, according to Gazeta Esportiva, Corinthians are interested in bringing Pellistri to South America. The report explains that the 22-year-old is on the club’s radar with a winger of top priority this summer.

This comes just a day after interest from Flamengo had been reported in the ‘excellent’ winger who has caught the eye at various points in his United career. Sebas Giovanelli reported this interest, stating that the world-famous Brazilian side wants to sign Pellistri.

But it appears Pellistri’s agent, Edgardo Lasalvia, has already suggested that the Flamengo option isn’t right for the United winger, as he told Uruguayan radio Sport 890 as quoted by Gazeta Esportiva.

“My personal opinion is that Flamengo has many players in this position and we are prioritizing the sports part. So Facu has to go to a team where he will play, where it is a priority for the coaching staff, and today I can’t say that it’s like that in Flamengo because I didn’t talk to the commission or the coach, just a director.”

It isn’t much of a shock to see that Pellistri could depart, as he’s hardly set the world alight and faces stiff competition which he’s unlikely to be able to unseat the likes of Amad Diallo.

How Facundo Pellistri has fared in 2024

After struggling for game time during the early parts of the 2023/24 season, despite being given a chance early on. This led to a January loan to Granada where he had a fast start, before struggling for long periods.

The Uruguayan winger’s highlight game against Barcelona in February where he scored and assisted in a 3-3 draw, but he never quite kicked on.

Despite this, he remains an important player for Uruguay on the international stage and scored and assisted in their most recent game against Mexico in a 4-0 win.

Pellistri has the talent, but it’s pretty clear he won’t be getting a chance at United, with three players above him, and younger talents set to emerge too such as Shea Lacey.
