Graham Potter set to miss out on yet another manager’s role, he hasn’t returned since Chelsea job – journalist

Graham Potter has still not made his return to management since he was sacked in his first season as Chelsea manager.

The Englishman was seen as the top candidate for Todd Boehly to be the man to take the project into the future, however he had to make the tough decision to remove him from his post as they sat in the mid-table positions.

Despite being rumoured for a number of big roles since leaving Stamford Bridge, with the likes of Ajax expected to make him their next manager at a point.

However, it has felt like he has bided his time for a return to the Premier League, and this looked to be on the cards when the vacancy at Leicester City came up.

They lost their manager, Enzo Maresca, when Chelsea went calling to bring him in to replace Mauricio Pochettino.

However, despite being seen as the favourite, journalist Lyall Thomas has now claimed that Potter is set to miss out on the appointment to Steve Cooper.

He said: “Steve Cooper is close to being appointed the new head coach of Leicester City. Negotiations in the final stages after he emerged as the leading candidate from a shortlist that also included Graham Potter.”

The former Nottingham Forest manager was known to Chelsea last season for his treatment of Andrey Santos, where he near enough refused to play him during his loan spell there.

Potter tipped for the England job

While things certainly did not work out for Potter at Stamford Bridge, it is fair to say that he is still an extremely promising head coach that will no doubt succeed wherever he goes next.

There are some that are even calling for him to become the next England manager, potentially replacing Gareth Southgate after the current European Championships.
