Liverpool have contacted Chelsea to try and sign player who Mauricio Pochettino loved

Liverpool have reportedly been in touch with Chelsea about the prospect of signing one of their top players this summer.

In a similar scenario to the Blues, the Reds are moving into a new era with a new manager for next season.

While Chelsea have brought in Enzo Maresca to replace Mauricio Pochettino, club legend Jurgen Klopp has moved on and has been replaced in the hotseat by Arne Slot.

In a similar manner to their rivals at Stamford Bridge, there will be an appetite to get their business done early at Liverpool in order to give the best possible platform for the new man to succeed.

It has been reported in the past that defence is a position that Liverpool are interested in strengthening, and this has brought them to the attention of Levi Colwill in West London.

Liverpool speak to Chelsea about Levi Colwill

Previously, it has been claimed that the Dutchman wants to make the England international his first big signing, an now according to HITC they have actually been in contact with the Blues to enquire about the possibility of bringing him in.

For all intents and purposes, it seems as if there is no chance Chelsea part ways with the player this summer.

Reports have already stated there are plans in place for theyoungster to be a key part of next season’s plans at the back.

It is believed Colwill is looking to speak to Maresca when the Blues get back to work for next season about the chances he has of securing regular minutes in a similar vein to how he did under Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine turned out to be a big fan of the Englishman, coming out to praise him for his performances.

Despite the fact they seem to be open to selling a number of homegrown players, they don’t want to part ways with Colwill by any means.
