'In that position': Wes Brown shares who he thinks is better - Phil Foden or Jude Bellingham

Wes Brown has revealed which player he thinks is better: Phil Foden or Jude Bellingham.

Recently, Gary Cahill stated that Foden is the superior player.

However, Jamie Carragher claimed that Bellingham’s winner in England’s 1-0 win over Serbia was proof of why he should be the team’s number 10 and not the 24-year-old.

It seems like opinions are split in the middle over whether Foden or Bellingham is the superior player.

Wes Brown suggests there’s a clear winner in Phil Foden-Jude Bellingham debate

Ultimately, regardless of where one stands, England are the real winners as they have two exceptional midfielders in their ranks.

The Real Madrid technician won La Liga Player of the Year accolade while the Manchester City attacker was awarded the Premier League Player of the Season award.

In the latest episode of The Mirror’s Euro Trash podcast, Wes Brown was asked: “Is that going to be a problem, Phil Foden playing on the left? Zero dribbles, zero shots, very quiet, everyone after the game said, why isn’t the best player in England coming and getting the ball?”

Wes Brown stated that one reason why Foden was not at his best against Serbia was because Bellingham, who he views as a better player than him was playing in the decorated midfielder’s favoured number 10 role.

“Because the best player from England is playing in that position, which is Jude Bellingham.”

Brown continued: “And we all know Foden’s had a fantastic season and regardless, wherever he plays, I still think he has to game into the game more. I remember when we were at club and the manager would ask us to play in different positions, you still have to impose yourself a little bit.”

“And Phil at times didn’t do that. But ultimately, he will take a bit more responsibility because we all know how good he is on the ball. We all know how good dribbling, assisting, all these things that he can do but he didn’t quite get into the game and he has been used to playing in a different position for City this season.”

The Phil Foden-Jude Bellingham debate will continue to change

While Wes Brown is entitled to his opinion, it seems like the debate involving Foden and Bellingham will continue to change based on recent events.

The former Borussia Dortmund talisman put in a masterful showing against Serbia and as a result, his stock is higher than Foden’s, who was widely slated for his showing on Sunday.

But if the £225,000-a-week man outshines Bellingham against Denmark, the masses might flock towards him in this ongoing debate.

Such is the nature of how football discourse operates — especially when comparing a pair of contemporaries who happen to be world-class players.
