Jakub Kiwior makes decision on Arsenal future

Jakub Kiwior is one player who could leave Arsenal this summer. Whilst the club are unlikely to be desperate to sell the Polish defender, he has attracted suitors.

There has been interest in Kiwior from Serie A. However, the 24-year-old is seemingly not yet ready to give up on making the grade in the Premier League.

According to a report in The Athletic, although a return to Italy is an option, Kiwior would prefer to stay at Arsenal and fight for a starting berth in Arteta’s side. His “aspiration” is to be a key figure in the Spanish coach’s plans.

The 24-cap Poland international is a centre-back by trade, but was required to fill in at left-back a great deal for the Gunners last season. Whilst the £21 million former Spezia man generally managed okay in this role, over time his limitations in the position became obvious, as he lacks attacking impetus, and he was vulnerable against elite opposition.

However, with Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba established as Arsenal’s first-choice centre-back partnership, Kiwior is unlikely to ever get a run of games in his preferred position outside of the event of an injury.

Whilst he is a useful option for Arteta to have at his disposal, Kiwior’s own career may well be best served by seeking pastures new this summer.

Kiwior seeking to prove a point to Arsenal at Euro 2024

Kiwior is currently representing his country at Euro 2024. He will be keen to impress at the tournament, and Arteta, as well has his potential suitors, will surely be watching on.

He is not the only Arsenal star at Euro 2024 with a point to prove. After a difficult season at club level, Oleksandr Zinchenko is another currently working to get back to his best. However, the Ukrainian has endured a tough start to the competition.

Arsenal fans were not impressed with performance Zinchenko produced in Ukraine’s shock defeat to Romania.
