Report: Senior Arsenal staff have decided the signing they need to make after watching Bayern Munich game

Senior figures at Arsenal were said to have immediately made a decision regarding the club’s summer transfer plans after the Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich.

And although the second leg of the tie was frustrating itself, it perhaps felt as if Arsenal wasted their biggest opportunity at the Emirates.

Arteta’s team dominated the game for large spells but came away from the match with no advantage in the tie, albeit for a controversial Bukayo Saka penalty call.

And whilst the focus of Arsenal’s business this summer will be bridging the gap to Manchester City domestically, Arteta will be targeting an improvement on the continent too.

Right now it’s believed that Arsenal want to sign a forward, a midfielder and a new left-back.

That doesn’t necessarily mean that Arsenal will sign a striker, it could well be a winger like Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams that arrives in north London.

But either way, Arsenal’s top-brass made a clear decision after their defeat to Bayern.

Senior figures at Arsenal want Edu to sign a player who has an ‘x-factor’

According to Charles Watts writing for the Daily Briefing, Arsenal decided that they needed to sign someone who has the ability to open teams up out of nothing following the loss in Germany.

There’s said to be an acceptance at the club that Arteta’s team did have some issues unlocking a packed defence in tight games last season.

And after the two-leg defeat to Bayern, high-level figures at Arsenal accepted that an x-factor type player was missing.

Arsenal now want to sign a player who has the ability to do something out of nothing, someone who can change a game in a moment.

And whilst it’s obvious to think that profile would be a striker, it could well be a world-class number eight too.

Right now Arsenal are said to be scouting Turkey star Arda Guler, who is yet to make his big breakthrough at Real Madrid.

But judging by the youngster’s start at Euro 2024, he could well be the player to add something special.

Similarly, a player like Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise or Eberechi Eze could change a game in a moment, two players who would improve Arsenal’s XI.

All that being said, Arsenal are said to be preparing a bid for a £50m player who has also been starring at Euro 2024.
