Report: Edu will bid for £40m player who angered some Arsenal fans in 2022

Edu will now bid for a player who upset Arsenal fans and was accused of mocking the Gunners back in 2022.

The transfer window officially opened last Friday on June 14th, so Arsenal supporters should expect some movement on the recruitment front – although both EURO 2024 and the Copa America may cause some delay in securing targets.

Speaking about the Copa America, there is a player currently away at the tournament with Brazil who Arsenal are now set to launch a bid for…

Arsenal to bid for Bruno Guimaraes

A story from Football Transfers now claims that Arsenal will bid for Newcastle No.39 Bruno Guimaraes.

It is said that the Gunners are planning to tempt Newcastle into a sale by making a player-plus-cash offer to sign the Brazil international, rather than immediately trigger his £100m release clause.

Football Transfers believe the Magpies may be open to such an offer, as it is explained Newcastle need to balance finances to satisfy the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

A player-plus-cash bid would ensure Newcastle receive options to strengthen Eddie Howe’s squad without spending a penny in transfer fees, while also securing a significant fee in the process.

Luring Bruno Guimaraes to the Emirates Stadium would bring closure to a longwinded saga involving the South American, who Arsenal have been linked with for years.

Even in the Brazilian’s own announcement of his £40m move to Newcastle, he included snippets of past reports showing interest from Arsenal – which actually upset some fans as they felt he was mocking the north Londoners for missing out.

Gunners have a player Newcastle like

It was not made clear who Arsenal could offer Newcastle along with some cash, but there is a player the Magpies like – Aaron Ramsdale.

TBR Football understands Newcastle are considering the England international as Howe aims to find competition for Nick Pope, after Loris Karius was released and Martin Dubravka is also expected to leave.

Ramsdale is surplus to requirements at Arsenal after Arteta replaced him with David Raya last season, so the Gunners would presumably be happy to include their No.1 in the deal to sign Bruno Guimaraes.
