Tolú Ekundare feels ‘sick and tired’
Tolú has finally spoken out on people mispronouncing her name. Pronounced as ‘Toe Loo’, she gave her fans a lesson in how to actually say her birth name, which she says is “unique and powerful”.
She’s now “sick and tired” of anyone getting it wrong when reacting to the Netflix show online. Despite the name rolling off the tongue for the star, fans were mad that her partner, Chris, got it wrong.
Tolú claims “every single person got it right on The Trust,” which she won. Her Perfect Match co-star, Elys Hutchinson, says it took her a month to get the right pronunciation with her British accent.
Mispronounced name wreaks havoc
The amount of times someone mispronounced her time on Perfect Match has actually been turned into a drinking game… by Tolú herself! She’s encouraging people to take a shot each time it’s said wrong.
During episode 9, Izzy Zapata played the drinking game with her. As Tolú encourages fans to please pronounce her name correctly, she reinforced how important it is to her that we get it right.
