Christopher Bell is from the state of Oklahoma and is a big fan of the Oklahoma Sooners football team. In an interview with Jeff Gluck of The Athletic, the NASCAR star expressed his love for the Sooners.

“I enjoy the fact there’s a really competitive college football team out of there,” Bell said. That’s always been a highlight of being in Oklahoma and being from Norman, is you have the Oklahoma Sooners football team and they’re normally really competitive. So I’m proud of them.”

Gluck then asked Bell how often he follows the Sooners since he’s racing on the weekends. “That’s normally my Saturday routine,” he said. “Either before qualifying or after qualifying in the fall time, I’ll be watching their games.”

Bell likely enjoyed watching Oklahoma last year as the Sooners went 10-3 and 7-2 in the Big 12. It was the second season for head coach Brent Venables who was Clemson’s defensive coordinator from 2012 to 2021.

But what can Bell expect from the Sooners in 2024? Athlon released it’stop 25 preseason poll, and the Sooners come in at No. 16. There are big expecations for linebacker Danny Stutsman as he was named to Athlon’s All-America Second Team.

Christopher Bell shares outlook for June

While Bell gets ready for the college football season, he’s looking to win his first Cup Series championship. The 29-year-old is having a strong 2024 season, earning two victories, and eight top-10 finishes in 17 races. One of the races Bell won was the Coca-Cola 600 in May, and after the race Bell was asked about his outlook for June.

“Gateway has been a struggle for us for sure,” Bell said. “The only two Cup races we’ve been to, it’s been a weak link on the schedule for the 20 team, so that one I don’t know how I feel about it. But certainly going to Sonoma, road courses have been really good for us, so I expect us to be a contender there, and then Iowa, I don’t know how anyone could be considered more of a favorite than me, and then Loudon is obviously a really good racetrack for me.

“We’re in a great part of the schedule, and the cool thing is that I feel like every time we go to the racetrack I should have capability and have a chance to win.”
