The dermatologist claimed Hailey Bieber has Perioral dermatitis

Aesthetician Doctor Hasia (@doctorhasia) boasts 41k followers on TikTok where she usually posts content around little-known skincare facts and stories. Unfortunately, she may have aggravated the wrong person last week as she spoke about Hailey Bieber, an influencer and model most known for marrying Justin Bieber.

Alongside a slideshow of videos and pictures from Hailey Bieber’s social media accounts, Doctor Hasia said: “Hailey Bieber is a really famous example of someone who’s overdone their skincare routine.

“She has a skincare line and she’s been using way too many active ingredients and as a result, has developed Perioral dermatitis. And that is the biggest consequence of using too many ingredients.”

Perioral dermatitis is a bending condition that is similar to acne and rosacea in the sense that it causes red breakout-like rashes across the face. It is most common in young to middle-aged women, with a range of factors resulting in its formation.

Usually, Perioral dermatitis is treated with topical antibiotics, Sulfur-based creams, or Azelaic acid cream.

The model did not take kindly to the accusation

Despite the doctor warning her followers out of seemingly the best intentions, Hailey Bieber did not take kindly to the 20-second takedown. In fact, she hated it so much that she commented.

“I’ve had POD since I was 19, so I’d say after 8 years I know a lot of what works for me and what doesn’t. I’ve been very vocal about minimal product use and being very sensitive to actives,” she scathed.

Fans also leaped to the model’s defense, as one person wrote: “I have perioral dermatitis started flaring up a few years ago, and I don’t use stuff on my face…”

“I mean she just using her product so it’s not that much gurlll💀… and her skin is perfect,” another said, while a third added, “I have POD since I 23 I could barely afford a 3rd step back then so no.”

Despite the pushback, it’s worth noting that the Doctor did not say that Perioral dermatitis is only caused by skincare overuse.
