Who is Petar Ratkov? Get to know the wonderkid Leeds United and Rangers transfer target

Take a look at everything you need to know about Leeds United transfer target Petar Ratkov for the summer window.

Leeds are putting together their plans for the coming season, with a busy transfer window expected this summer.

Daniel Farke is being backed to bring The Whites back to the Premier League, after failing on his first attempt to earn promotion from the Championship.

The Elland Road outfit proved an impressive side during stages of the previous season, but appear to be lacking in some areas to get them over the line.

That’s where the summer transfer business will be key, whether that’s in high-profile sales or potential incomings.

One of those linked with a switch to Yorkshire is striker Petar Ratkov, a player with a bright future ahead of him.

So with that said, here’s everything you need to know about the forward linked with a move to Leeds this summer.

Petar Ratkov age and height

Petar Ratkov was born on August 18th, 2003, which makes him just 20 years old at the time of writing and still starting out in his career.

Ratkov is approximately 1.93 metres in height, or roughly six feet and four inches in total, which is a tall stature for any position on the pitch.

Petar Ratkov position

The majority of Ratkov’s career so far has seen him play as a central striker, however, he is also capable of playing on the left wing too.

In his career so far, the forward has scored 23 goals across all of his teams as he continues to grow and progress.

Which team does Ratkov play for?

Ratkov currently plays for Austrian side RB Salzburg and the Serbian national team.

The 20-year-old joined Salzburg in July 2023 from Serbian outfit FK TSC, though he has been a rotational option so far for his current team.

However, there is plenty of promise for the forward, who has already been handed an international cap and even received a call-up for Euro 2024.

What is Petar Ratkov’s playing style?

Ratkov has been described as a target man striker, with his strengths in receiving the ball, holding it and winning aerial duels.

While his height and physical profile lean into this, his mobility gives him the option to play on the wing or off of a strike partner.

So far, there have been few starts in Austria for him, however, there is plenty of room for improvement in the years ahead.

Ratkov Golden Boy award

After some impressive performances, Ratkov was nominated for the 2023 Golden Boy Awards, which nominates the best young talents in the world.

The award was eventually handed to Jude Bellingham, but the Serbian striker found himself in plenty of good company on the shortlist – named as a wonderkid alongside many others.

Petar Ratkov to Leeds and Rangers transfer

The transfer rumours continue to swirl around Ratkov ahead of a potentially busy summer window for the striker.

According to GiveMeSport, both Leeds United and Rangers are looking at a deal for the 20-year-old in the coming weeks.

Salzburg currently holds a contract until 2028 on the youngster, which may make any transfer possibility tough.

However, it remains to be seen which offer could tempt a switch along with the possibility of more playing time.
