‘Pushing hard’: Chelsea ready to trigger release clause to sign £60m attacker – journalist

It has been claimed that Chelsea are now ready to pay the transfer fee required in order to bring in one of their targets this summer.

The Blues have been looking to do business early this summer in order to give adequate backing to new manager Enzo Maresca.

Attackers have been high up on the agenda for the club this summer, and they were reportedly ready to pay big money to bring in one striker earlier in the window.

It was claimed they were one of the many clubs prepared to pay big money to sign Benjamin Sesko, however he signed a new contract with his current side, RB Leipzig.

After missing out on him, it has been claimed that they have turned their attentions to Crystal Palace star Michael Olise.

Chelsea ready to trigger Michael Olise’s release clause

Despite the fact his current side have offered him an improved contract to remain there, it has been claimed that there is still confidence at Chelsea that they can pull this deal off.

Journalist Santi Aouna has claimed on Twitter that he believes that the Blues are ready to activate the release clause of the Frenchman this summer.

He said: “Manchester United is not ready to trigger the release clause around €70m to sign Michael Olise. United is exploring different possibilities to make the deal happen.

“Chelsea are ready to trigger the clause. They are the frontrunners at the moment. They are pushing hard. Key days.”

Chelsea think Olise is perfect alongside Cole Palmer

It has been claimed that the Blues see the Frenchman as the perfect player to come in to feature alongside superstar Cole Palmer in attack.

Bringing in Olise would likely spell bad news for Noni Madueke, who enjoyed a very strong end to last season.

Reports have already begun to claim that there are a number of clubs across Europe who are monitoring his specific situation for a potential transfer this summer.
