F1 fans are hoping one Alpine picture doesn’t hint towards their 2025 driver line-up

Formula 1 has reached its tenth race of the season with excitement beginning to build ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix.

The Circuit de Catalunya once again hosts the event although there are question marks surrounding its future following the announcement earlier this year that Madrid will begin hosting Formula 1 races from 2026 onwards.

Hosting an F1 race is about so much more than just the sessions that happen on the track between Friday and Sunday these days.

With Formula 2, Formula 3 and the F1 Academy all part of the event this year, there are dozens of drivers available to interact with fans and take part in all the activities away from the circuit.

On Wednesday, several drivers took to the streets of Barcelona to show off their cars.

Home town hero Carlos Sainz was one of them alongside Alpine reserve driver Jack Doohan.

The pair took a picture together that ended up on Alpine’s social media channels and F1 fans have been having their say on the pair with speculation over both of their careers brewing.

It’s safe to say that some fans in particular aren’t happy with the potential connotations of that photo.

The world of Formula 1 is keeping a very close eye on the movements of Carlos Sainz.

After discovering that his Ferrari seat was being handed to Lewis Hamilton in 2025, he’s been linked with virtually every other team in the paddock.

There’s no official confirmation yet of where Sainz will end up next year, although Alpine is technically an option for him, even if he’s much more likely to join rivals Williams at this stage.

For Jack Doohan, his options are much more limited.

The young Australian is currently the reserve driver for Alpine which may be a good place to be with Esteban Ocon already confirmed to be leaving at the end of the season.

He’s been pushing hard to prove to team principal Bruno Famin that he’s ready for a rookie F1 season in 2025 and Famin is considering him as a serious contender.

However, some F1 fans aren’t convinced that a Sainz and Doohan partnership makes sense for next year even if many are putting two and two together based on the picture and drawing conclusions of their own.

Alpine’s 2025 driver line-up still far from confirmed

The picture of Sainz and Doohan together was posted on Alpine’s Instagram with the caption: “Jarlos are in town,” leading to plenty of replies from fans in the comments.

Areej_korkad: “Carlos to Alpine?”

FaithlovesF1: “Is this a sign?”

Sarathguttikonda: “Admin blink twice if you are predicting something.”

Harveylunken: “2025 lineup.”

However, not all of them were positive, including several fans who hope it’s not a pairing we see on the grid next year.

Pax_romana94: “I swear to god if Sainz goes back to this team his career is doomed.”

Pepijn.b_03: “Please tell me it isn’t true.”

It has to be remembered that Sainz and Alpine have worked together previously under their old Renault name.

The Spaniard is already looking much further down the grid than he would have liked given he’s already a race winner this season.

However, for Doohan, he’s in a position where he has to take any chance he can get to realise his dream of racing in Formula 1.
