'8/10': £8m Liverpool player 'led by example' for his country at Euro 2024 yesterday

Liverpool star Andy Robertson earned positive reviews from the Scottish media after Scotland’s 1-1 draw with Switzerland on Wednesday.

Andy Robertson remains in with a chance of qualifying for the knockout stages of Euro 2024 after a much-improved Scotland display last night.

Steve Clarke’s men suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat to hosts Germany to kick off their tournament last week.

With Robertson and Scotland looking for a reaction, they were denied a victory over Switzerland by a stunning effort from former Liverpool man Xherdan Shaqiri.

But a win over Hungary could see Scotland advance through the group stages, depending on the performances of other third-placed teams.

And following last night’s 1-1 draw in Cologne, Robertson’s performance at left-back has gone down well with the Scottish media.

Scottish media deliver Robertson verdict after Switzerland draw

The Herald handed Robertson an eight out of 10 rating for his display, claiming the Scotland skipper was heavily involved in the game.

“Involved in just about everything Scotland did at both ends of the pitch in the opening stretch, and carried that on throughout the match,” they wrote.

“Unlucky not to force something with a wicked cross-meets-cut-back from the left in the closing 10 minutes.”

The Scotsman were slightly less convinced by Robertson’s performance as they handed him a match rating of seven.

The outlet praised him for his involvement in Scotland’s opener but feel his delivery was lacking at times.

They wrote: “His bombed run down the left led to Scotland’s opener. Led by example with a number of forays forward.

“His delivery was hit and miss at times but was a constant ball of energy and defended diligently – very little came down his side.”
