Declan Rice gives ‘shout out’ to former Arsenal star for surprising thing he’s done outside of football

England midfielder Declan Rice has now admitted that he is a fan of one thing that a former Arsenal star has been doing away from the pitch.

Arsenal ace Declan Rice is currently in Germany, representing England at Euro 2024.

The 25-year-old has made an impressive start to the tournament. The media praised Rice for his performance for England against Serbia in their first game of the competition.

Since then, the Arsenal star has been recovering and preparing to go again against Denmark on Thursday afternoon. He is almost certain to be included in Gareth Southgate’s starting XI for that match.

Whilst former Premier League winger James McClean has claimed that Rice is overrated, there is a strong argument that he is in fact England’s most important player at these Euros. He is certainly one of them, not only because of his own individual quality, but also because no one else in the squad can truly recreate his tactical role in the side.

Part of this recovery period in between matches involves making use of a cryo chamber. These devices expose the body to extremely cold temperatures, far below zero, for a short period in order to boost recovery and reduce any inflammation.

During one of these cryo chamber sessions, Rice revealed his fondness for the work of a former Arsenal attacker.

Declan Rice enjoys music of former Arsenal star Alex Iwobi

In a video posted to the official England YouTube channel, Rice was seen singing in a cryo chamber. When he emerged, he was asked what music he had been enjoying.

The former West Ham United man replied: “‘Don’t Shoot,’ Alex Iwobi. It’s his new one, shout out!”

Iwobi, using the moniker 17, recently released a song called Don’t Shoot, with fellow artist Don-EE and fellow Hale End academy graduate Chuba Akpom.

The song is targeted at young people, and aims to inspire them to aspire to achieve all they can. Rice himself is also name-checked in the song.

Whilst it is something of a surprise to see Iwobi branch out into music, he has insisted that it does not detract from his focus on football.

After making 149 appearances for Arsenal, Iwobi joined Everton in the summer of 2019. The 28-year-old Nigerian international now plies his trade for Fulham.

Rice and Bukayo Saka shining at Euro 2024

Mikel Arteta will be proud of the performances that both Rice and Bukayo Saka have produced at the Euros so far. Arsenal fans were impressed by Saka’s display against Serbia.

If the Three Lions are to stand any chance of winning this tournament, they will need the Arsenal duo to remain fit and firing on all cylinders.
