'I've heard': Journalist claims Premier League giants have 'interest' in £45m Wolves star alongside rivals

Wolves could find themselves hosting a bidding war this summer as another Premier League club is claimed to be interested in one Molineux favourite.

Gary O’Neil has started the summer transfer window strongly, with three permanent transfers already completed at Wolves.

Tommy Doyle’s permanent switch from Manchester City commenced business in the 2024/25 campaign, with Rodrigo Gomes and Pedro Lima joining the Englishman.

While arrivals have been the focus so far at Molineux this summer, there are expected to be departures also, with one name circulating as a player of interest.

Tottenham join West Ham as those interested in Wolves captain Max Kilman

Max Kilman’s future at Wolves has been speculated as Julen Lopetegui is rumoured to want to reconnect with the defender at West Ham.

While it was reported that an approach from the Hammers for Kilman is ‘expected’, another club are also said to have the centre-back on their radar.

Speaking on Last Word On Spurs, Paul O Keefe gave an insight into the players Spurs could target this summer, with Kilman named.

It was discussed that Ange Postecoglou will be in the market for a defender this summer, seeing Kilman identified as being ‘of interest’ as a left-sided centre-back would be preferred.

“They’re [Spurs] looking for a left-sided centre-back, I’ve heard that Max Kilman is of interest. I’m not sure I’d buy it entirely as he signed a new deal in August and West Ham are sniffing.”

While Kilman has made his stance clear, reinforcing that he is happy at Wolves, the club captain could depart this summer if the right price is presented to Fosun.

Wolves could entertain a bidding war for Kilman

It’s anticipated that Wolves value their captain at £45m, a price that could fluctuate depending on the interest that the ‘outstanding’, as he was lauded by Conor Coady, defender accumulates.

Given that O’Neil has plenty of work to do to replenish his squad after seeing his resources limited last term, securing a profit on Kilman would be significantly beneficial to the rebuild.

It must not be forgotten that as Wolves captured the Englishman for just £40,000, a sale would generate pure profit, making interest from two Premier League clubs interesting.

While the 27-year-old is O’Neil’s captain and played every minute of the 2023/24 season, he is not by any means irreplaceable, displaying some questionable performances throughout the campaign.

The prospect of entertaining a bidding war between clubs as lucrative as Spurs and West Ham could only be beneficial for the Old Gold, who could in turn be handed the funds to bolster the squad as a whole.
