Report: £35m star linked with Chelsea is tempted by the Premier League, he'll discuss future after Euro 2024

Chelsea may be pleased to hear that one of their transfer targets is actually tempted by moving to England and playing in the Premier League for the first time in their career.

Surely, the attraction of the Premier League is a huge aspect when it comes to Chelsea’s approach in transfer negotiations.

A number of the Blues’ signings last summer came from overseas divisions. The likes of Malo Gusto and Nicolas Jackson settled pretty well during their first seasons in this new environment.

While The Chelsea Chronicle does rate signing players with Premier League know-how, there’s some super business to be done if you look further afield. In fact, the club are now linked with a very talented £35m star from the Spanish league.

Chelsea target tempted by the Premier League

GiveMeSport has claimed that Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak could end up leaving this summer after a decade and 446 appearances for the La Liga club.

It is understood that Atletico are looking are looking at Valencia’s keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, which means that Oblak’s future is a bit up in the air.

The report says that Oblak will discuss his future with his club after Euro 2024, where he is currently representing Slovenia.

Apparently, the 31-year-old would cost around £35m for interested parties to sign. There’s interest from Saudi Arabia, but the player himself is ‘ tempted’ by the Premier League.

The GMS report comes after CaughtOffside recently claimed that Chelsea are considering Atletico’s Oblak as a summer target.

Jan Oblak is a very interesting option

Oblak has been so reliable as Atletico’s first-choice goalkeeper for the majority of his 10 years in Madrid.

The experienced gloveman has won La Liga and the Europa League during his time in Atletico, plus he’s become renowned as a superb shot-stopper and presence in goal.

He actually played every minute last season for Atletico in the league, keeping 13 clean sheets in total.

If Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca believes that Oblak possesses the ball-playing qualities to suit his system, the club should seriously consider ramping up interest in the player valued at a respectable £35m fee.
