Report: Aston Villa make enquiry to Juventus about signing their 'stratospheric' forward amid Douglas Luiz talks

Aston Villa are currently busy on the transfer front as they look to bring in a number of players while offloading some of their own.

The Villans are reportedly in talks with Italian giants Juventus over a deal that would see Douglas Luiz head to Turin and two of their players going the other way.

Villa have reportedly also agreed to sell Tim Iroegbunam to Everton, who in turn could send Lewis Dobbin the other way, while talks are seemingly ongoing over Chelsea’s Ian Maatsen.

On Thursday, Sky Sports looked at the latest on the discussions between Villa and Juve over Luiz, and who the Bianconeri could send in the other direction.

Sky Sports claimed that the Villans have also asked Juve about the availability of one of their forwards, a player who has been likened to Lionel Messi.

Aston Villa ask Juventus about Matias Soule

The player in question is Matias Soule, who has already been linked with Villa this summer as a stand-alone signing.

According to Sky Sports, Villa are now understood to have inquired about the Soule’s availability, but were told he is not for sale.

As things stand, the deal would see Douglas Luiz join Juve, with Samuel Iling-Junior having agreed to move to Villa and talks over Enzo Barrenechea progressing.

The Villans are also expected to receive around £21million in cash to reach Luiz’s £55million valuation after factoring in Iling-Junior and Barrenechea.

Who is Aston Villa target Matias Soule?

Matias Soule is a 21-year-old forward who featured on the right wing, as a second striker and as a No. 10 on loan at Frosinone last season.

The Argentine left-footer made a real name for himself at the central Italian club, registering 11 goals and three assists from 32 Serie A outings.

Jacek Kulig of Football Talent Scout previously said the reported Villa target is a ‘Messi-esque’ talent who ‘can really produce magic’.

Meanwhile, Former Juventus player Davide Lanzafame told Tuttojuve in March: “He is a stratospheric player and for me it would be a mistake to sell him.

“He is having an incredible time at Frosinone, my hope is that he can stay in Turin and demonstrate his value.”

Based on the Sky Sports report, it looks like Villa won’t be getting their hands on Soule, as Juve seem eager to keep him around.
