Simon Cowell is looking for a new band

During his chat with Stephen, Simon makes no bones about what it’s like being in a band.

He says: “You are going to lose a lot of your privacy.”

But, sharing some perks of being in a musical group, Simon says: “It’s a brilliant way to get noticed if you want to become a successful solo artist.”

He explains how “…being in the band was the catalyst for One Direction members’ solo careers.”

Speaking of his current venture, he tells Stephen: “I’m doing it because right now there isn’t, I don’t think, a band who has been as good as One Direction since One Direction, in my opinion.”

The world-renowned record producer adds: “If you look at the amount of solo artists versus bands right now in the world in pop music, it is unbelievable.”

Simon’s top tips on auditioning for the band

64-year-old Simon says he’s “hoping” the people he finds to form his new boyband will be good enough to land a record deal.

Speaking in an Instagram post this June, he shares some top tips for people wanting to audition for the boyband.

He says: “My advice is don’t overthink it.”

Simon tells auditionees to “come in as themselves” and to tell him and his team why they should be in the band.

He adds how even just “turning up” is worth something.

Simon believes it’s “all about personality,” and says “dancing,” and “playing an instrument” aren’t important.

The father-of-one adds how auditionees can be in a band already, or put their friends forward for the show.

He tells the cameras: “Having done this for a long, long time, it’s the best part of my job. I’m really, really excited about doing this.”

Simon is holding auditions for 16 to 18-year-olds ready to become the “next global superstar” in Liverpool, Dublin, and London across July and August.
