£57m Man United player so impressed with what Alexis Mac Allister did for Argentina last night

Liverpool supporters can now watch their players feature across two international tournaments this summer.

While the Euros have been coming to life over the past week, the Copa America has been waiting patiently in the wings.

Plenty of Liverpool players have so far been in action, with some faring much better than others. There’s still much more to come as well.

The first player out of the blocks in the United States on Friday was Alexis Mac Allister, who’s Argentina side faced Canada.

Liverpool’s no,10 did well on the whole, with the Argentine national media impressed with Mac Allister’s ‘eye-catching’ display. And they weren’t the only ones to praise the 25-year-old after the match.

Lisandro Martinez impressed with Alexis Mac Allister

This version of the Argentina national team feels like a very tight-knit group. A World Cup win two years ago and a certain Lionel Messi being the captain are perhaps the binding factors for that.

What that means is that club rivalries are put to one side when the group meets up to play.

For players dealing with Mac Allister, that is probably not difficult for them to do. The Liverpool man is the kind of player who makes those around him better. Just ask Diogo Jota.

And he does have some rivals within the Argentina squad, let’s be clear about. Now a key man in the Liverpool squad, Mac Allister’s nemesis ought to be Man United’s Lisandro Martinez.

Nevertheless, club issues are clearly the last thing on Martinez’s mind after their important win last night.

After Mac Allister took to Instagram to share his delight in having made his Copa America debut, the £57m Man United defender was one of those to send his well-wishes.

“Copa America debut with victory!” wrote Mac Allister, who claimed a brave assist to get Argentina’s opening goal. “Thanks to my family and everyone who always with us.”

“Lo que jugassss [sic],” wrote Martinez in response, alongside a flame emoji. This translates as something akin to ‘what a player.’

Who’s in action for Liverpool on Friday?

With two tournaments to keep across now, there is lots for Liverpool fans to monitor over the next few weeks.

In terms of the Copa America, none of Arne Slot’s squad are actually in action until next week now. Darwin Nunez plays in the early hours of Monday morning, with Luis Diaz in action in the late evening of the same day.

Alisson Becker kicks his tournament off with Brazil just a few hours after Diaz at 2am on Tuesday morning.

As for Friday, it sees the Euros take centre-stage, with Liverpool’s Dutch trio set for a massive game against France at 8pm.

Virgil van Dijk will start, while Cody Gakpo should get the chance continue the good form he showed against Poland, too.

Ryan Gravenberch could make his tournament debut after being rooted to the bench during the opening game. Good luck, lads!
