Joseph McBride, an attorney who has represented multiple January 6th defendants, is not happy that members of the Republican National Committee seem cool to the idea of inviting MAGA rioters on stage to speak at next month's Republican National Convention.

As Semafor reports, there are currently no plans to feature convicted Capitol rioters at the RNC, as many members don't want to draw attention to the violent criminals who attacked a coequal branch of government on behalf of their presumptive 2024 nominee.

In an interview with Semafor, McBride revealed that he'd made entreaties to have MAGA rioters speak at the RNC but added that they "didn’t really go nowhere."

The attorney speculated that the prospect of having violent criminals represented at a major party's political convention "makes a lot of these people uncomfortable" and he lashed out at them for not seeing the opportunity that having them at the convention offers.

“It’s unfortunate, but there’s a lot of weak people, spineless people in that group,” he said. “What can you do?”

Of course, Trump has taken up the MAGA rioters' cause at his rallies, where he has referred to them as both "hostages" and "warriors" and has vowed a mass pardon of them should he return to the White House despite the fact that many of them were convicted of assaulting police, of destroying government property, and even of seditious conspiracy to overthrow the government.
