Key Middlesbrough figure now set for European switch after two years at the Riverside - journalist

Middlesbrough are set to lose a key member of Michael Carrick’s staff ahead of the 2024/25 season.

There are set to be a number of big changes at Middlesbrough before the 2024/25 Championship season gets underway.

Michael Carrick committed his future to the North East outfit earlier this month, putting pen to paper on a three-year extension.

Elsewhere, Boro have already completed two summer transfers, with a third expected to be confirmed next week.

The Teessiders have signed Luke Ayling on a free transfer after he shone during a loan spell from Leeds United in the second half of 2023/24.

Delano Burgzorg has also completed a permanent switch to Boro, while Aidan Morris is expected to become the club’s third signing of the window next week.

On the outgoings front, meanwhile, right-back Anfernee Dijksteel has been made available for sale, and midfielder Dan Barlaser is the subject of interest from Turkish outfit, Trabzonspor.

Middlesbrough coach Aaron Danks set to sign for Bayern Munich

It is not just players who could say goodbye to the Riverside this summer, however, with a key member of Carrick’s staff now set to leave.

The man in question is first-team coach Aaron Danks, who joined Carrick’s coaching team in December 2022.

Danks has been crucial to Boro’s improvements over the past two seasons but will now link up with Bayern Munich.

This comes with journalist Philipp Kessler reporting that Danks has moved from Middlesbrough to Bayern Munich:

Danks’ move to Bayern Munich will see him reunite with manager Vincent Kompany following a previous spell together at Belgian side, Anderlecht.

Will Middlesbrough be able to replace Aaron Danks?

Danks’ arrival at Middlesbrough back in 2022 came as a big boost for the North East outfit.

The now 44-year-old brought a wealth of experience to Teesside, having previously held prominent roles at Premier League outfit Aston Villa and Anderlecht.

During his time at Villa, Danks took up a temporary caretaker role and was dubbed ‘impressive’ by Leon Bailey, as per the Shropshire Star.

Boro have now turned to Carrick’s brother, Graeme Carrick, in a bid to bolster their coaching team ahead of next season.

Teesside Live reported earlier this week that Middlesbrough have been given permission by Newcastle United to speak to Graeme.

Unlike Danks, Graeme has no experience working with senior players. He is currently Newcastle’s U18 manager and previously held a role as an England Youth Coach.
