Three men suspected of spying for foreign intelligence were arrested in Germany. They tried to collect information about a person from Ukraine, reports The Guardian.
According to German prosecutors, the suspects were arrested in Frankfurt on Wednesday, June 19.
They were identified as Ukrainian citizen Robert A., Armenian citizen Vardges I., and Russian citizen Arman S. The full names of the suspects were not made public in accordance with German privacy rules.
Yesterday, the court ruled to keep them in custody pending possible charges of working for a foreign intelligence service.
It is noted that in their statement, prosecutors did not indicate which country's intelligence service they spied for.
According to them, the suspects were tasked with collecting information in Germany about a person from Ukraine, whom they had not identified. To this end, the agents allegedly scouted a cafe in Frankfurt, where this person was likely to be.
