N.J. man admits to burning down home, spray-painting swastikas in Shore town

An Ocean County man pled guilty to his role in an antisemitic crime spree that included the destruction of a home and spray-painting others with antisemitic graffiti, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office announced Friday.

Ron Carr, 35, faces up to 13 years in prison when he is sentenced on Aug. 16, according to a news release. He remains in the Ocean County Jail pending sentencing.

Carr was arrested on June 5. 2023, and charged with with 36 counts of bias intimidation, aggravated arson, arson and criminal mischiefafter officials say he set fire to a home in the Pine Lake Park section of Manchester around 3:10 a.m., it was previously reported.

He was brought to a medical facility after being taken into custody near the corner of Commonwealth Boulevard and Larchmont Street.

Carr was captured on surveillance video hours earlier spray-painting swastikas on 14 homes as well as on fences and other property, police said.

“This crime spree and the antisemitism that it expressed caused pain, destruction, shock and fear among the residents of Manchester Township,” Attorney General Matthew Platkin said in a previous statement. “No community in the state of New Jersey should feel vulnerable or anxious in the face of acts of intolerance. No resident should feel their personal safety or their home is threatened by bigotry, persecution and violence.”
