Baseball: Imanaga roughed up for 10 runs, Cubs fall to Mets

Chicago Cubs pitcher Shota Imanaga gave up 10 runs on 11 hits, including three home runs, over three-plus innings in an 11-1 loss to the New York Mets on Friday.

Imanaga's (7-2) ERA rose from 1.89 to 2.96 after the day at Wrigley Field marked the most runs, hits and homers the left-hander has allowed. It was also his shortest outing through 14 major league starts.

The Mets jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first on a three-run home run by J.D. Martinez.

Francisco Alvarez and Brandon Nimmo also homered off the former DeNA BayStars ace to push the lead to 6-1 in the second.

In his previous start against the Mets on May 1, Imanaga threw seven scoreless innings, giving up just three hits with seven strikeouts at Citi Field.

"They adjusted well to my fastball up and changeup down in the zone," the 30-year-old said. "I just have to learn from this and pitch well next time. I'll figure out what adjustments I need to make and go from there."
