Leeds will surely expect PL side to soon make contact about signing Whites star after Friday's news - opinion

Euro 2024 appears to have done little to help ease the nerves of the Leeds United fans patiently waiting to see which players depart following the Whites’ play-off final defeat last season.

The major tournament seems to have led plenty of sides to put their transfer business on the back burner for the time-being, and thus, there does not appear to have been too much movement so far.

But there was big news on Friday night, with BBC Sport one of the outlets to report that Michael Olise is close to joining Bayern Munich with the Crystal Palace star keen to sign for the Bavarian giants.

Olise’s move to Munich would deal a big blow to a number of Premier League clubs, but it would also put a number of sides on alert as you would imagine that Palace will be desperate to make a statement with who they bring in to replace the attacking midfielder.

And Leeds may perhaps be one of those sides now bracing themselves to receive some contact from the Eagles in the coming days.

Brighton have looked to step up their interest to sign Summerville, but the Daily Mirror reported at the start of June that Palace would look to land the winger if they lose Olise and Eberechi Eze this summer.

Olise established himself as one of the most exciting attacking players in the Premier League last season. But Palace have also become one of the best at spotting the best in the Championship and handing them the chance to make the step up.

Crystal Palace prepared to make move for Crysencio Summerville

Summerville, of course, has already played in the Premier League, proving to be one of Leeds’ brightest performers in the miserable 2022/23 campaign. But there is no question that he has gone to another level over the last 12 months.

Palace have been vindicated for signing the likes of Olise, Eze and Adam Wharton from the second tier in recent years.

And as Olise seemingly prepares to head through the Selhurst Park exit, it would be little surprise if Palace looked to swiftly make contact with Leeds about Summerville.
