Ukraine and the European Union may sign a security agreement in the coming days, potentially on June 26, according to DW.
According to the agency, a senior EU official announced at a briefing on Friday, June 21, that the security agreement between the EU and Ukraine would be signed within the next few days. He noted that the agreement's text had already been finalized, a process that took several months.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will sign the agreement with the EU on Wednesday, June 26.
DW adds that the agreement covers the European Union's military support for Ukraine, as well as financial support, European integration, and other areas of cooperation.
Security commitments for Ukraine
Ukraine has already received security guarantees from over 15 countries, most of which are European states, including the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Denmark, the Netherlands, and others.
Additionally, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Joe Biden signed a security agreement.
Earlier, the President's Office reported that the text of the agreement between Ukraine and the EU had been agreed upon. Poland also announced that the security guarantee agreement for Ukraine would be ready soon.
