Report: Arsenal could now sign the third-fastest midfielder in the Premier League for just £30m

One of Arsenal’s key midfield targets could be available for a bargain price this summer.

The Gunners have failed in their bid to win the Premier League title for two seasons in a row. They’ve come twice on both occasions behind Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta will want to go one step further in the 2024/25 season and to do so, he will need reinforcements in his squad.

Midfield is expected to be a priority, and one Arsenal target’s price tag seems to have dropped because of his club’s financial woes.

Arsenal could sign Amadou Onana from Everton for a bargain fee

Amadou Onana has been on Arsenal’s radar for a long, long time.

The Belgian, who joined Everton from Lille in the summer of 2022, became an instant hit at Goodison Park. He had a really impressive debut season in the Premier League.

Onana has since been linked with a move to a number of clubs, and Arsenal are among those interested in his services.

The Gunners need a new midfielder this summer. Mohamed Elneny has left the club already, while both Thomas Partey and Albert Sambi Lokonga have been put on the ‘chopping block’.

A new midfielder will solve a lot of problems for Arteta, and Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Arsenal are tracking Onana.

Now, a report from The Sun has highlighted Everton’s need to sell some of their players to avoid another punishment for breaching the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability regulations.

It has been claimed that as many as five players may have to be sold.

One of them is Onana, who the report claims ‘could raise £30 million in a move to Arsenal’ this summer.

What should Arsenal do?

If Onana is really available for £30 million, it is a no-brainer for Arsenal.

The Belgian, still only 22, is a hugely talented midfielder. He’s tall, strong, excellent in duels and already has two years of experience in the Premier League.

To add to that, Onana is absolutely rapid as well. He is the third-fastest midfielder in the entire Premier League, registering a top speed of 36.65 km/h in the 2023/24 season (Squawka).

Onana is the complete package, and if he’s available for anything around £30 million, Arsenal should be all over this deal.
