The nation’s top offense tackle is back on the road this weekend, this time in Columbus, Ohio.

Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day School FIve-Star Plus+ OT David Sanders Jr. is on his official visit to Ohio State — his sixth overall official visit.

Tennessee appears to be the Buckeyes’ main competition for Sanders, but Ohio State has been putting in work. Currently committed Buckeyes like cornerback Devin Sanchez and quarterback Tavien St. Clair have been working hard to sway Sanders to Columbus.

Trey McNutt, trying to keep him home. David Sanders, you know, Jamie French, Vernell Brown and people like that,” St. Clair told Lettermen Row earlier this month. “I mean, it’s just people that I know can add to the class and make us the number one class, if we’re not already, and really just make the best team in Columbus that we can have.”

Sanders broke down his recruitment with On3 last month at the On3 Elite Series in Nashville. He had this to say about the Buckeyes.

“When I went there recently, coach Justin Frye was amazing,” Sanders said. “I love everything about coach Ryan Day and how we were able to sit down and talk with my parents. It was a spring visit, so it was a lot more lowkey with a lot less players, so we were really able to go in-depth about what my future and development would look like at Ohio State.”

David Sanders Jr. Recruit Profile

Sanders is the nation’s No. 2 overall prospect and top offensive tackle in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Tennessee currently holds a slight edge in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) at 28.8%.

On3’s Scouting and Rankings team writes this about Sanders as a prospect:

“Twitchy, explosive jumbo athlete who looks like one of the top offensive tackles in the 2025 cycle early on. A two-way star for Providence Chrisitian in Charlotte as an offensive tackle and defensive lineman. Has a tall, lean frame, measuring in at around 6-foot-5.5, 250 pounds. Registers as a top athlete, excelling in the combine setting. Transfers that athleticism over to the field. An electric mover for an underclassman offensive line prospect. Explodes to the second level and moves effortlessly in space. Plays much stronger than his lighter weight would suggest. Has developed upper body and core strength to plant defenders into the ground.

Flashes some dominant tendencies as a drive blocker and finisher. Runs his feet on contact and plays with some nastiness. Relatively advanced technically. Also shows off his athleticism as a defensive lineman. Would be an easy Power 5 prospect on that side of the ball. Also shows his functional strength in track and field, where he’s a standout in the shot put, with an outstanding personal best of 53-3.5 feet as a sophomore. Will need to continue adding mass, as he is relatively lean and does not have an overly wide frame. Older for the class, turning 17 years-old as a sophomore.”
