Texas A&M has a chance to win its first-ever national championship in baseball, facing Tennessee in the College World Series Finals. Through three and a half innings, the Aggies are up 7-2 and enjoying life. Head coach Jim Schlossnagle has to be happy with where his team stands early in the Game 1 contest.
When speaking about the lineup, Schlossnagle was complimentary of the at-bats Texas A&M is putting together. He knows Tennessee’s AJ Causey can be as dangerous as anyone but the Aggies have found a way to get contact on him — something Schlossnagle attributes to skill and luck.

“We’ve done a good job against a really good pitcher,” Schlossnagle said during a mid-game interveiw with ESPN’s Kris Budden.
“He’s really tough. Gotten the ball up a little bit. We’ve had some balls get through, so, we’ve had some luck on our side. Keep having good at-bats.”
A five run third inning is where most of the damage has been done thus far for Texas A&M. No extra base hits were accumilated — just a few singles, a fielders choice, and a throwin error from Tennessee. Simple and steady have led to a ton of success.
On the flip side, Schlossnagle gave the ball to Ryan Prager to open the CWS Finals. prager is working on short rest and despite giving up two runs, the plan is going well at the moment.
Eyes will be on the fourth inning as Prager makes his way through the Tennessee line up for the second time. Schlossnagle would not mind a little more length out of his starting pitcher, maybe getting back to the top of the order, saving the Texas A&M bullpen some outs.
“He’s using his fastball,” Schlossnagle said. “He’s pitching on short rest, this will be a big inning right here. We’ll see if he can get through the line up, close to a third time.”
