'My word': Pundit says Kevin De Bruyne is absolutely 'unstoppable' at one specific skill

Izzy Christiansen has claimed that Kevin De Bruyne is impossible to tame when he tries to execute one skill.

De Bruyne was on the scoresheet for Belgium as they defeated Romania 2-0 on Saturday.

Manchester City’s number 17 is his nation’s captain at Euro 2024 and as a result, all eyes were on him to see how he fared after Domenico Tedesco’s men lost their opening game 1-0 to Slovakia. It is safe to say that the six-time Premier League winner lived up to expectations against the Romanians.

Izzy Christiansen makes specific observation about Kevin De Bruyne

The 32-year-old was a man possessed — creating chances, testing Florin Nita, effortlessly driving with the ball, leading his side’s press and topping off his impressive showing with a goal.

It seemed like the Manchester City midfielder was fired up — as indicated by his goal as he chased down the ball before sliding it into the back of the net past the goalkeeper.

On BBC Sport, Izzy Christiansen remarked how De Bruyne is particularly incredible at shifting the ball past a defender and going for goal; a skill he displayed in the 54th minute of the contest against Romania.

“My word. Kevin De Bruyne is just unstoppable when he gets the ball and shifts it so quickly like that.”

The decorated maestro’s effort was tame, however, as the ball rolled into Florin Nita’s path.

Kevin De Bruyne has mastered this skill

Izzy Christiansen is spot on as De Bruyne has been executing this very skill for years.

Considering the former VFL Wolfsburg technician is an incredible striker of the ball with both feet, defenders are perhaps in a bit of a pickle when assessing which foot to show him on.

However, De Bruyne remains predominantly right-footed.

As a result, defenders try to ensure the City legend cannot simply pick his spot when trying to prepare a shot.

But that is easier said than done — with De Bruyne’s strikes against Norwich City in a 5-0 win for Manchester City in 2020 or against Leicester City in a 1-0 victory for City emerging as examples where he shifted the ball out of his feet quickly and got on the scoresheet.
