'Doesn't give in': David Beckham sends Instagram message to Inter Miami star after what happened vs Columbus Crew

Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham has sent a message of support to one player after Wednesday’s 2-1 win against the Columbus Crew.

The Herons eased past the reigning MLS Cup holders with a convincing performance at Chase Stadium, with Inter Miami solidifying their lead at the top of the Supporters’ Shield standings without Lionel Messi or Luis Suarez.

The highlight of the match was the return of one Ian Fray, who after a year out injured with a third ACL issue in his career started the fixture and scored the opening goal for Inter Miami, a moment that was widely celebrated.

And Beckham has now sent a message to Fray after his comeback performance for Inter Miami.

Ian Fray showered with praise from Beckham after Inter Miami return

Taking to his official Instagram account after the match, Beckham shared a story celebrating Fray’s comeback against the Crew and his performance for Inter Miami, which could be one of the most significant this season.

Beckham wrote: “Tough moments in this young man’s career over the past few years but this kid doesn’t give in…. belief and perseverance. Congratulations mate.”

At 21-years-old, Fray has already suffered enough injuries that would put most professional players out of action for the rest of their careers, with the defender fighting through despite the issues faced before him.

And Beckham’s message to Fray shows just how supporters the defender is at Inter Miami, who this season could now go on to become a key player for the Herons in their bid to win MLS Cup and the Supporters’ Shield.

Fray will want to push Inter Miami to historic success

Fray’s return has come at the perfect time for Inter Miami with Nicolas Freire out for the rest of the year with an ACL injury, with the 21-year-old defender somewhat rushed back after missing so much action.

Yet as we saw against Columbus, Fray is more than ready to start regularly again in MLS, with the Florida native putting in a good performance against the Crew and showing Inter Miami fans that his quality is still there.

And heading into the second half of the year, Fray will want to push Inter Miami to historic success via MLS Cup and the Supporters’ Shield, with the Herons more than capable of claiming the double this season.
