'Extraordinary': Inter Miami's owner says what Luis Suarez is really like in the locker room behind the scenes

Inter Miami owner Jorge Mas has revealed what Luis Suarez is really like in the locker room behind the scenes.

The Uruguay international joined the Herons in January as one of Inter Miami’s newest big-name signings, with the legendary striker adapting well to life in MLS with 14 goals and seven assists in all competitions.

With Suarez reuniting with former FC Barcelona attacking partner Lionel Messi, the duo have been influential in Inter Miami’s rise to the top of the MLS Supporters’ Shield standings, with a playoff finish looking extremely likely.

And club owner Mas has now shared what Suarez is like away from the pitch.

‘Extraordinary’ Suarez praised for Inter Miami impact on and off the field

Speaking to El Pais, Mas lauded Suarez for his attitude in the locker room whilst also praising the striker for his form on the pitch with Inter Miami, where the attacker has been quite incredible this season.

Whilst Messi has stolen the headlines, Suarez’s impact with Inter Miami has arguably been just as big as the Argentine’s, who has spent more time out injured than his Uruguay counterpart.

Indeed, Suarez’s performances at Inter Miami have been remarkable this year, and Mas was rightfully full of praise for the former Gremio and Atletico Madrid striker, who has taken to life in Florida expertly.

Mas said on Suarez: “Luis has been a star this season, he has played extremely well, he is one of the top scorers and assist makers in MLS, he is also extraordinary in the locker room. For us, for Luis to part of this team, is an honor.

Herons will need Suarez at his best after the Copa America

Suarez’s absence this summer due to the Copa America will come as a hammer blow for Inter Miami, with the veteran forward one of Tata Martino’s most important players in the entire squad.

Yet once Suarez is back from this summer’s competition, the Herons will hope that the 37-year-old is back to his best, with Inter Miami back in Leagues Cup action next month.

Defending their title will be a priority as will be playoff qualification at the earliest possible stage, two tasks that Suarez will be up to doing once he is back in Florida with Inter Miami.
