In-state OL Jake Cook commits to Ohio State

2025 OL Jake Cook (Mick Walker/ Lettermen Row)

Westerville (Ohio) North offensive lineman Jake Cook has committed to Ohio State. He went public with his plans during his official visit to Columbus.

The 6-foot-5, 305-pound Cook is a former Louisville pledge that also had offers from Boston College, Duke, Georgia Tech, Kentucky and NC State among others.

Cook earned his offer from Ohio State in camp last weekend. He knew in that moment he’d be a Buckeye.

“This opportunity is huge for me,” Cook told On3. “Being an Ohio kid and going to Ohio State is every kid’s dream.”

Buckeyes add to country’s top class

Cook becomes commit No. 18 for head coach Ryan Day and the Buckeyes in the class-of-2025, adding to a haul On3 ranks No. 1 in the country.

“I’m excited to work for the brotherhood and be a part of it,” Cook said. “I’m excited for this opportunity because Ohio State is such a great school with a high-power offense.”

Offensive line coach Justin Frye had been keeping in touch with Cook and is the guy Cook feels can get the most out of him.

“I’m excited to get developed to be the best center I can be!” Cook said.

“Coach Frye and Coach Day are super energetic and they love what they do. I’m super excited to be playing under those two and get developed by them!”

Cook put everything he had into receiving this opportunity and won’t slow down in Columbus.

“Just the fact I’ve been working for this my whole high school career to earn a scholarship from OSU and it’s been a dream of mine since I was seven,” Cook said.

Ohio State’s top offensive line targets moving forward

Cook adds to a class that also includes offensive tackle Carter Lowe. Moving forward, top targets at the position for Ohio State include five-stars David Sanders Jr. and Josh Petty along with four-stars Jayvon McFadden and Micah DeBose.
