Attackers in Dagestan killed over 15 Russian police officers

Over 15 Russian police officers have become victims of militants who carried out a series of attacks in Makhachkala and Derbent on June 23, according to the Telegram channel TASS.

According to the head of Dagestan, Sergey Melikov, the active phase of operational and combat activities in Makhachkala and Derbent has been completed.

Six militants have been eliminated.

Melikov assured that the situation in Dagestan is under the control of the authorities and law enforcement agencies.

He also stated that in Dagestan they will continue to identify dormant cells of militants who were preparing from abroad.

Attacks in Dagestan

On Sunday, June 23, in Makhachkala and Derbent, unknown assailants carried out a series of armed attacks, including on police officers, a synagogue, and an Orthodox church, whose priest was killed.

Heavy military equipment was deployed on the streets of Derbent. The city is blocked off.

The attacks involved the sons of the head of the Sergokalinsky district, Omarov. He has been detained.
