Joe Gibbs Racing has found its driver of the No. 19 car for the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season following the retirement of Martin Truex Jr. According to Bob Pockrass of Fox Sports, Joe Gibbs Racing will reveal the driver during a news conference on Tuesday. The driver wasn’t named in the news alert, but it’s expected to be Chase Briscoe who currently drives for Stewart-Haas Racing.

The reason it’s expected to be Briscoe is Christopher Bell accidentally leaked the news while speaking to reporters on Friday. “I don’t think that there really is a leadership role in that aspect,” Bell said before slipping up, via Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports. “Whenever Chase comes into the car [pauses and smiles] … I don’t even know what to say. Whenever we have a new driver [in the car].”

Briscoe needs a new team since Stewart-Haas is shutting down at the end of the season. Last week, he told SiriusXM NASCAR Radio that he had “multiple offers on the table” to join a team next year.

“I feel like I’m pretty close [to a 2025 deal],” Briscoe said ahead of the race at Iowa. “I feel pretty good about it. There’s a lot of different [factors in the decision]. Performance is one thing that definitely [in] weighing the options is something that is important, the future and what the future looks like.

“And then obviously, the other part is, what’s going to be the best to provide for my family. With twins on the way, I’m going to have three kids. That is a real thought now, just what’s going to set us up for the future in the best way.”

What Joe Gibbs Racing is looking for in its next Cup Series driver

Currently, Joe Gibbs Racing features Truex, Bell, Denny Hamlin and Ty Gibbs as its four drivers. During Truex’s retirement press conference, Joe Gibbs Racing owner Joe Gibbs revaled what he was looking for in a driver to replace Truex next year.

“Yeah, we’re still working on all of that and so we just want to focus right now on Martin (Truex Jr.) and all of that stuff will take place later on,” Gibbs said. “We’re thrilled to be here supporting – all of our guys are here. Martin means a lot to us. He used to sit in those competition meetings and he would sit in there and a couple of our drivers would be – and I’d look over at Martin and he’d go. Martin didn’t say a lot, but when he said it, it meant a lot to us.”
