'Advancing in talks': Chelsea are close to signing a striker who has 'no fear' - Fabrizio Romano

Fabrizio Romano has stated that Chelsea are getting close to making yet another addition in the early stages of this transfer window.

The Blues have looked to act quickly in an attempt to give the best possible backing to Enzo Maresca, whose official work as new manager starts soon.

They were quick to the addition of Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer, with a number of top clubs looking at bringing him in.

The announcement of Estevao Willian made by the club over the weekend was a huge statement of intent for the future, with him already tipped to be one of the top players in the game in the future.

It appears they are not done with bringing in players in that bracket though, with reports cropping up recently that they were interested in bringing in Barcelona youngster Marc Guiu.

It appeared that the deal would be available for a relatively cheap price based on the promise he has shown. Former manager Xavi described him as a player who has ‘no fear’.

Now, Romano has taken to Twitter to say that the Blues have actually moved closer to completing the deal, ahead of Bayern Munich.

He said: “Chelsea are advancing in talks to sign Marc Guiu by triggering €6m release clause. The agreement with Guiu on long term deal is getting closer, Bayern overtaken after positive talks this weekend.

“Barça offered Guiu new deal — still no final answer from player’s side.”

It is believed that there are a number of options on the table for Chelsea if they are going to bring in some more firepower up top to compete with Nicolas Jackson.

Jhon Duran is a name with Premier League experience who has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, while reports cropped up over the weekend that they had registered their interest in signing Jonathan David from Lille.
