The European Union will immediately begin work on the 15th package of sanctions against Russia, according to Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen, citing her statement before the EU Council summit.
"I'm grateful for the 14th sanctions package now. And yes, the negotiations took a long time. But the sanctions package at the same time is very wide in spectrum. And, of course, all countries had their viewpoints that had to be taken into account," she said.
She added that work on the 15th package of European sanctions against Russia would start immediately.
"I am so happy that the package is now there, and of course, the work on the next sanctions package will start immediately, so I am sure that we will be able to update these lists of sanctioned entities," the minister said.
Sanctions against Russia
The EU has been steadily increasing its sanctions pressure on Russia since it launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. The implementation of extensive sanctions, specifically 13 packages, has significantly impacted the Russian economy, greatly weakening its potential and undermining the country's military power.
