Report: Chelsea are no longer interested in signing £60m player this summer

Chelsea remain in the transfer market for a new striker.

The Blues are looking for an alternative to Nicolas Jackson, who made more than 40 appearances in his first season in England.

Still just 23 years of age, Chelsea will want to take some pressure off the Senegal international next term.

He scored 17 goals for them in his debut campaign at Stamford Bridge.

However, Chelsea look to have cooled their interest in one striker.

Chelsea now unlikely to sign Premier League star

There has been a lot of talk about Chelsea backing away from the likes of Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran and Atletico Madrid’s Samu Omorodion.

It appears, though, that you can now add another name to the list.

According to GiveMeSport, Chelsea are no longer interested in signing Brentford’s Ivan Toney either.

The outlet claims that Brentford have put a £60m price tag on the 28-year-old, but it does not look like their west London rivals are going to bite.

It was recently claimed that Chelsea could sign Lille’s Jonathan David for half of that.

Ivan Toney could join Chelsea’s London rivals instead

While Chelsea may no longer be interested in Toney, the England international could still get a big move this summer.

The same report from GiveMeSport states that Tottenham Hotspur have also looked at him, though his valuation could be a stumbling block.

Chelsea should not take Toney completely off the table. He is a good striker and they are running out of options.

Last season was a difficult one for Toney, as he missed a lot of it because of his eight-month suspension.

However, the Brentford star did score 20 goals in 33 Premier League appearances back in the 2022/23 campaign.

His age, though, makes a move to Stamford Bridge unlikely. Since their takeover, Chelsea have only really been targeting young players. Simply put, Toney does not fit their transfer strategy.
