John Stones shares whether he thinks he would be a better manager than Rodri

Manchester City centre-back John Stones has revealed whether he would end up becoming a better manager than Rodri.

Previously, Pep Guardiola stated that the Spanish international could become a successful manager in the future. The Catalan tactician claimed that defensive midfielders like Rodri have the whole picture of the game, which makes them suited to naturally viewing the game in this respect as coaches.

However, Stones has also played in midfield, albeit from right-back or centre-back but regardless, he has the experience of assessing games from a vaster perspective too.

John Stones responds to whether he would be a better manager than Rodri

While Vincent Kompany became a manager after working with Pep Guardiola, it will be interesting to see which other players in Manchester City’s current squad do the same.

The City boss once told TNT Sports that Kevin De Bruyne, who he mentioned was working towards venturing into management one day can do so in the future.

When quizzed on talkSPORT whether he or Rodri would be the better manager, Stones confidently claimed it would be his teammate at the Etihad Stadium.

Faye Carruthers asked: “Who’d be a better manager, Stones or Rodri?”

Stones replied: “Rodri.”

Carruthers asked: “Why wouldn’t you be a good manager.”

Manchester City’s number five said: “Not for me.”

Rodri seems suited to becoming a manager

Only time will tell whether Stones will become a manager but so far, he seems disinterested but as far as Rodri is concerned, he would suit the job.

Firstly, having worked with legendary coaches like Diego Simeone and Pep Guardiola, the midfield maestro would have a one-of-a-kind insight to pass on to his players, if he became a manager one day.

Additionally, Rodri’s won every possible trophy at the club level — which means he has the answers to give to players on how to reach the absolute top of the game.

As Guardiola stated, with the 28-year-old being a holding midfielder, his perspective of the game will likely be very well-rounded, which would assist him tactically.

With Rodri being an extremely intelligent player as well, he seems destined to become a top manager after his playing career comes to an end.
