Ukraine still requires more air defense systems, including the Patriot. The West must accelerate the delivery of military aid, according to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba at the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting.

According to Kuleba, Ukraine needs more Patriot and SAMP/T air defense systems, a continuous supply of missiles for air defense, artillery systems and shells, long-range missiles, drones, and electronic warfare systems.

"Separately, I emphasized the need to expedite military aid deliveries, especially air defense, and expand defense industrial output. We can and must defeat Russian aggression on Ukrainian soil to ensure long-term peace and stability throughout Europe," Kuleba said about his speech.

He also said that additional weaponry and support for strikes on Russia with Western arms have been crucial for stabilizing the situation in the Kharkiv region.

"The recent events in Kharkiv region once again demonstrate that Ukrainians are capable of winning if they have the necessary means. Ukraine still needs more air defense systems, particularly Patriots. We must ensure that Russian aircraft cannot fly to the distance required to use gliding bombs," he said.

Air defense for Ukraine

Recently, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry reported that thanks to new military aid packages from partners, Ukraine has been able to narrow the capability gap with Russia. However, more air defense systems are still needed.

Specifically, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine urgently needs seven Patriot systems and a total of 25 is needed to cover the entire country.
