'Keep an eye': Journalist says clubs now believe key Leicester City player is 'available' for a 'bargain'

One of Leicester City’s best players could be ‘available’ for transfer this summer despite the club’s return to the Premier League.

Leicester City are in a precarious position financially, with the Foxes shrouded in uncertainty due to their ongoing appeal against an accused breach of Premier League spending rules.

To add to this, they are also tasked with ensuring their finances are in order ahead of the next PSR deadline on 30th June and may need to make sales in order to avoid a breach of the rules and possible points deduction.

The £10 million compensation received from Chelsea as a compensation payment for appointing Enzo Maresca as their new manager has helped matters, but incoming boss Steve Cooper may still see one or two of his best players have to leave this summer.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall may be ‘available’ despite Leicester City promotion

Youth product Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is arguably Leicester’s best player and the midfielder was instrumental to the club winning the Championship last season.

A boyhood Leicester fan who rose through the ranks at the club, Dewsbury-Hall is the most valuable asset the Foxes have given he is homegrown and a sale would be recorded as pure profit in accounting terms.

Now, Give Me Sport have reported that this could see the 25-year-old depart this summer, with Manchester United and Brighton both interested.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs via Give Me Sport: “Manchester United are looking at a few names in that area. One is Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who is on Brighton’s radar as well and he might be available for £30-35million.

“Leicester were quoting £45million in January, and the compensation they received for Enzo Maresca helps them be a bit more bullish, as far as PSR is concerned.

“But they still may need to settle, so we’ll wait and see whether they will entertain an offer for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. But the expectation is that he could be available on the market and for a relative bargain

“So keep an eye on Manchester United and Brighton there.”

Dewsbury-Hall would be impossible for Leicester to replace

It would be gutting for Leicester fans to have to see one of their own leave the club simply to make up for mismanagement at board level.

However, that is a very real possibility and the man who scored 12 and provided 14 assists on the way to the Championship title will be impossible for Leicester to replace given their finances.

The attacking midfielder thrived under the management of Maresca last season and the Argentine manager was full of praise for his captain in November, saying: “He was full of responsibility at first [for relegation], but since the first international break he has improved a lot.

“He’s calm, fantastic with the ball, he knows when to attack and what to give the team.

“He is so dangerous near the box, and has the quality to score or assist from anywhere. He could already have had 10 or 12 assists. He is probably the most-improved for us and he’s in the perfect position.”

Leicester fans will be desperate to see their talisman stay at the King Power and help with the club’s survival bid, but it could be a long summer of worrying about Dewsbury-Hall’s future.
