'He believed': Why Michael Olise chose to join Bayern Munich over Chelsea - journalist

One attacker who will not be joining Chelsea this summer is Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise.

Michael Olise was thought to have been Chelsea’s top transfer target for this window.

However, the winger is now set to join Bayern Munich instead.

The Athletic reported last week that Olise had agreed to sign for Bayern after Chelsea pulled out of a deal because of finances.

However, even if the Blues were willing to pay all of the necessary fees to land the 22-year-old, it looks like they still could have missed out on him.

Michael Olise puts faith in Bayern Munich

While finances may have been a problem for Chelsea, money was not something Olise was concerning himself about it seems.

According to ESPN journalist James Olley, Olise has chosen to join Bayern because he believes a move there is best for his development and finances did not come into play on his side.

On X, Olley said: “Worth highlighting that whatever financial concerns Chelsea had about the deal, Michael Olise chose to join Bayern from Crystal Palace because he believed it was the best place to further his development.

“Wasn’t a financial decision on his part.”

Nico Williams can help Chelsea get over Michael Olise failure

Naturally, there will be a lot of disappointment at Chelsea after missing out on such a talented player like Olise.

However, it looks like they have now turned their attention to Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams, who is also another gifted wide man.

It has been claimed that Chelsea are pushing to sign Williams after losing the race for Olise.

The 21-year-old scored five goals and provided 11 assists in 31 La Liga appearances last season as his side came fifth in the table.

Williams is a real threat down that left-hand side. If Chelsea manage to land the Spain international this summer, it will really soften the blow Olise has dealt them after deciding to move to Bayern.
